Google just rebranded its $100 billion advertising business because the desktop is dying
Google‘s new Google Ad program allows companies to reach customers wherever they are online, as people move away from browsing the web on desktop. It also expands its program so small businesses can use Google ads, allowing them to use the power of the internet to reach customers.
Google with more than $100 billion per year in advertising revenue, announced on Tuesday that it is streamlining multiple advertising technologies into three main products called Google Ads, Google Marketing Platform and Google Ad Manager. Google’s advertising products like AdWords and DoubleClick are getting new names. Along with rebranding, Google is also introducing some new solutions that further push toward simplifying its advertising offerings.
The three new primary brands are:
- Google AdWords is now Google Ads.
- DoubleClick Advertiser & Analytics 360 are Google Marketing Platform.
- Double Click for Publishers and DoubleClick Ad Exchange are integrated and going to be called as Google Ad Manager.
With increasing needs & demands in the digital world, Google has developed new ad products, formats and measurement solutions to meet them. The new branding will make it easy for marketers to figure out new solutions in achieving better outcomes.
The Launch of AdWords:
Despite the massive success, the company is eliminating Google AdWords which launched in October,2000 with 350 Advertisers. AdWords offers the advanced features for advertiser to fit online marketing goals and budget. Google Ads is primarily just a name change for AdWords.
Like its predecessor, it will allow companies to buy ads on Google’s ad network across different platforms, including searches, YouTube videos, Google Maps, Google Play, Android Store apps and on partner sites. Instead of buying a specific type of behavior (desktop viewer, mobile viewer, etc.), Google’s system will allocate advertising dollars across platforms based on the customers advertisers are trying to reach.
However, there’s one small change: Google Ads will make it easier for smaller businesses to advertise through Google. An option called Smart Campaigns will let companies create an ad within minutes through a set form, and set a goal like getting phone calls, sending people to their website or bringing customers to their store. The rebranding is mainly aimed at continuous tacking of user behavior in order to tread a line between helping marketers find customers and keeping personal data private.
What’s there in for You:
- The smaller websites will continue to use AdSense, which lets advertisers place small ads on their sites.
- If you’re a small business looking manage your advertisement campaigns in an effective way.
- More Target specified ads can be served for users.
- To help small companies to purchase and track the effectiveness of their ads.
