Instagram’s New Updates – A Boon for Marketers
Facebook owned Instagram has rolled out Instagram’s new update including a video chat and topic channels in Explore section and New camera effects for “stories”. (Instagram a Photo sharing app, which was founded Mike Kreiger and Kevin Systrom in 2010.)
Back in April 2012, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s Co-founder attracted a fair amount of criticism for the deal of $1Billion for buying Instagram which stunned both Silicon Valley and Wall Street. All the criticism and concerns have faded away as Instagram’s growth and revenue skyrocketed. As of Today, Instagram were a stand-alone company Bloomberg intelligence estimates that it would be worth more than $100 Billion.
Rapid User Growth:
In 2018 the number of users in Instagram reached 1 billion worldwide which was only 40 million users back then 2012 and it has room yet to grow. Instagram is now no longer a just picture sharing social network. It became an essential tool for both content creators as well as marketers.
A Promising Future in Video:
Over one billion Instagram users will now have access to the “video chat” feature in the “Direct” messages section, along with options to block and mute users and multitask on the app while video-chatting. The update to the “Explore” section comes with “newer ways to discover your interests on Instagram,” the company wrote in a blog post late on Tuesday.
Users would be able to navigate through posts by grid-swiping and scrolling options and browse through the “For You” channel .. Instagram stories are getting soundtracks as the feature hits 400 million daily users.
Add Music While Recording:
Instagram will also let users pick a song to play before they record a video too, which feels like a shot across the bow of the various lip-sync apps out there. Like with the sticker-based option, users will be able to pick a song using a new “Music” option underneath the record button, find the snippet they want playing in the background, and then be able to record video as usual.
